A graduate of Karachi University, Mansoor Khan has had a rollercoaster ride as he transitioned from a fresh Pharmacy graduate to an iconic marketer par excellence.

His journey is characterized by holistic development, representing a 360-degree transformation that influences every aspect of his professional persona. Q: How did your journey begin in PharmEvo?
A: It’s been a huge transformation since I joined. Reflecting on it, it feels like a rollercoaster ride—a bullet train that passed by in the blink of an eye. Back then, the company was full of energy, as growing organizations often are. PharmEvo was achieving success at a rapid pace, and so were the people working here.

I joined PharmEvo in June 2009 and received five promotions in my first four years. At one point, I even got two simultaneous promotions in a single year. While many people chase short-term gains, PharmEvo stands out as a dynamic organization with an average employee tenure of around 10 years.

Q: What made you long stay, apart from the rapid career growth?
A: PharmEvo’s values resonate with my principles, making it the ideal place for

me to grow and stay long here. Moreover, the organization invests heavily in its employees, preparing them for the future bigger roles. Thus employees including myself don’t ever feel the need to look elsewhere for opportunities. Furthermore, the culture of internal promotions is also a kind of promise of career progression for the talent. All of these are the key reasons behind my long service here. 

Q: How have you evolved professionally since 2009?
A: The transformation has been 360 degrees, largely impacted by the organizational culture as well as colleagues I interacted with over last many years. My background as a sportsman also taught me the importance of teamwork, which has been instrumental in my success throughout. Over time, I’ve learned to be responsive rather than reactive, taking time to process situations before making decisions.

I’ve also improved my interpersonal skills and always strive to ensure that my interactions leave a positive impact. I believe these things played an important role in my transformation of what I am today.

Q: How do you approach decision-making, especially in difficult situations?
A: I’m a quick decision-maker. I don’t shy away from challenges; instead, I face them head-on with my team. I believe in empowering my team members to make decisions, even if it means allowing them to make minor mistakes. This approach fosters learning and growth.

As the saying goes, “Don’t be like a fly that sits only on the dirty wound, leaving the whole beautiful body aside.” I focus on the bigger picture and ensure that my team feels valued and supported while scaling the new heights of learning.

Q: How did you transition from being a pharmacist to a marketer?
A: Coming from a humble background, my primary goal after graduation was to support my family. I chose pharmacy because I wanted to excel in sales and marketing. My career began at Sanofi Aventis in sales, but I soon realized that marketing was where my true passion lay.

After 3.5 years at Sanofi, I joined Brooks Pharma as an Assistant Product Manager. Later, I worked at Atco Laboratories as a Brand Manager before transitioning to PharmEvo. My move to PharmEvo was unintentional but turned out to be the best decision for my career.

Q: Who inspired you in your journey?
A: Dr. Asad Abbas and Amir Habib played pivotal roles in bringing me to PharmEvo. I’ve always admired the aura of marketers—their ability to influence and make impactful decisions.

Q: What qualities define a successful marketer?
A: A marketer must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal. The ability to influence and inspire others is crucial. I believe in hiring sharp individuals and molding them to fit the organization’s culture.

Q: How do you balance work and personal life?
A: Family time is sacred to me. I make it a point to disconnect from work once I’m home. I spend quality time with my kids, playing cricket and engaging in activities they enjoy. Cutting down on social media has also helped me focus on what truly matters.

Q: What was your “aha” moment in life?
A: The birth of my first daughter, Khadija, was a life-changing moment. It taught me the true meaning of responsibility and love.

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?
A: I’d say, “You can be much better.”

Q: What lesson took you the longest to learn?
A: Empathy. Understanding that everyone has unique strengths and perspectives is crucial.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: Good deeds.

Q: What is your proudest and happiest moments in life?

A: The happiest and proudest moments of my life was when I got my first 1300cc car and became a business manager.

 Q: What is your favorite book?

A:  “Shahab Nama,” which I really enjoyed a lot.

Q: What characteristics should every Evodian possess?
A: Humility is non-negotiable. Arrogance has no place in PharmEvo. The ITREE values—Integrity, Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, and Empathy—define a true Evodian.

Q: What skills should the younger generation focus on to succeed in the corporate world?
A: Teamwork. Building the right team and fostering collaboration is key to achieving success.
